Annual Meeting and Banquet
On January 15 Arcadia Chamber of Commerce held their Annual Meeting and Banquet at the Arcadia County Club. This event recognizes the hard work and commit of individuals of the community. This years award recipients were, Business of the Year, Waumandee State Bank, Community Service Award, Jeff & Sara Halvorsen, Educator of the Year, Mike Sobotta, Civic Champion Award, Michael Sonsalla and Honorary Lifetime Achievement, Dr. Paul Dettloff. During the meeting elections for the Chamber Board of Directors are held as well. There was one Director position open this year, Bruce Brovold, Kostner, Koslo and Brovold LLC. This seat was sought by and filled by Chris Gierhart, Kostner, Koslo and Brovold LLC.
Easter Egg Hunt
On Sat. April 4th, Memorial Park was hopping for the 17th Annual Arcadia Area Chamber of Commerce Easter Egg Hunt. Approximately 300 youngsters, ranging from ages 1 – 10, along with their families, were present for the Easter Egg Hunt. With over 5000 eggs scattered about the park was colorful and kept the children in the five different age groups busy picking them all up. The Easter Bunny, along with Miss Arcadia Royalty was in attendance and enjoyed all the activity with the little egg seekers. This free event is made possible by the generous support from Arcadia Service organizations and area businesses and is staffed by the Arcadia Lionesses, the Arcadia Boy Scout Troop and other volunteers from the community. The day was full of sunshine and smiling faces!

Ag Day 2015
Arcadia Area Chamber of Commerce held its 28th Annual Ag Day Dinner on Thursday March 5th. The meal which consisted entirely of Wisconsin farm products was held at Holy Family Parish Hall. This year’s Farm Family of the Year was awareded to the Frank and Angela Berg Family.
The 100% organic Berg Farm, is located four miles from Arcadia in Glencoe Township in Buffalo County. The current operation runs 765 tillable acres of which 210 acres are pasture and 93 acres of woods. The Bergs, milk about 100 cows, maintain crops including oats, corn and hay. The farm, which was the home farm of Frank’s parents, Melvin and Judeen was certified organic in Feb of 2002 and Frank has served on Organic Valley's dairy executive committee for the past 6 years. The family, Frank, Angela, Cassie, Tyler, Lindsey and Samantha are active in the Glencoe Hustler 4-H club, Bethel Lutheran Church in Arcadia, as well school sports and activities. Frank has been a volunteer EMT for 18 years and Angela has served as the Arcadia City Clerk and Treasurer since 1998. This year’s guest was Scott D. Gottschalk who is an author and a highly regarded professional public speaker. During Scott's lifetime, he has not only been a farmer, but has worked more than three decades for Land O' Lakes, Inc., helping serve the farmers who feed our planet. Additionally, he's served as an international consultant where over the years he has fulfilled international consulting assignments in dangerous third world nations, all while trekking across six different continents. |
